1001 Remedies supports
Education For All Morocco (EFA)

Because 1001 Remedies supports women empowerment and has been founded by Sofia, who was raised in Morocco, it's only naturally that we chose to help Education For All Morocco (EFA). EFA Morocco non-profit organisation ensures teenage girls from the remotest, poorest villages in the High Atlas region of Morocco can continue their education. Founded in 2007 in response to high illiteracy rates (over 70%) among girls, EFA began to build and run boarding houses for girls who were missing out on education due to living too far away from the schools and being too poor to afford transport (if there was indeed any available).

Provide a safe environment

The boarding houses offer a safe and supportive learning environment for the girls to access nearby schools and ultimately to explore their potential.

The houses provide them with a cosy bed, access to hot showers, 3 nutritious meals a day, access to computers and the love and care of a dedicated House Mother and volunteers.

This enables them to complete their education and have the necessary confidence and skills to go all the way to University.

- EFA runs 6 boarding houses for girls in Morocco
- All the houses are staffed by local women
- Each house has between 30-50 girls
- The girls are from 12-18 years

Educate the next generation

EFA has on average 250 girls in our boarding houses every year.
The girls reach 90% average pass for exams (much higher then the national average of 60%)

Over 150 girls have enrolled at University since EFA began, and two former students are now studying their Masters degrees- they are all the first in their villages to reach this far!

EFA’s boarding houses are changing lives and attitudes in the High Atlas. An educated girl educates the next generation!

Thank you for supporting them today.
